Match Preview: France are coming into this game on the back of 5 wins in their last 6 friendly games and their only defeat was against England at the Wembley Stadium back in November 2015 and that was the only time they failed to score as well if we take their recent 6 games into account. Didier Deschamps has installed a winning mentality with attacking style of play in this french side who has scored atleast 2 goals in five of the last 6 matches they have played. Comfortable victories against Netherlands, Russia, Cameroon and Scotland in the build up to the big event will only enhance their confidence.

Romania on the other hand qualified as runners-up behind Northern Ireland in the group F of Euro 2016 qualifiers. They went 10 games without a defeat and finished just 1 point behind group leaders. However they have only won 2 of the 6 friendlies leading up to the 2016 Euros. Switzerland and Albania makes up the Group A and both France and Romania will be looking to start their European championship campaign with a win.

Team News & Possible Lineups: French coach Deschamps has some selection headache but its a positive one with so many talented players available at his disposal as far as their attack is concerned. Olivier Giroud is expected to start upfront with Antoine Griezmann and Coman playing just behind him. Three man midfield of Kante, Matuidi and Pogba will provide much needed efficiency in central areas.

Romania on the other hand is expected to lineup with 4-2-3-1 formation. Andone to play upfront with trio of Stancu, Popa and Sanciu playing in attacking roles behind him.

Match Predictions: Romania has not enjoyed the best of form leading up to the tournament but they have a squad full capable enough of causing the first upset in the 2016 tournament. French side either blow hot or cold in big events and its remain to be seen what French side will take the field. Playing at home, France will be heavy favourite and that comes with its own pressure. I expect Romania to make a game of it and I am sitting on a fence in this one with a 1-1 draw.

The 2016 Copa America Centenario tournament got underway Friday with the opening match (USA-Colombia) and will conclude with the championship match at MetLife Stadium on June 26. The United States will host all 32 matches as 16 participating nations will battle to win the 100th celebratory edition of this historic South American tournament.

The 16 teams participating are broken into four groups of four teams, with the top two teams of each group advancing to the knockout stage. Groups were drawn on Feb. 21. Preview: The Indians toppled the Royal Challengers Bangalore top order quite easily and came out victorious in their last game. It was a good show by the Mumbai bowlers, and the batsmen were consistent throughout the game to chase the total of 151 successfully. Although they occupy the fifth spot, they are now only two points behind the Sunrisers, who are at the zenith with 14 points from 11 games. And a big win against Kings XI, the bottom one in the league table, will take the Indians to the second place, leapfrogging Kolkata, Delhi and Gujarat on their way.The visitors, however, are entirely on the different side of the spectrum. They need a win for survival – for yet another loss will leave them hanging on a thread, relying on some slim mathematical possibilities. However, a convincing victory may even take them two places up and withing two points of the play-off spots. Naturally, the Punjab side will have to bring out their best in this MI vs KXIP fixture to stay in the competition.

Mumbai Indians, winning four of their last five matches, should not see any reason to change the eleven that started against RCB. Nitish Rana got his first chance in that game, replacing an off form Hardik Pandya. Although he did not score a lot, he should get another opportunity to prove his worth. Other than that, Rohit Sharma’s side looks a lot settled than their opponents.

The Punjab side, as we mentioned before, are struggling a lot in this edition, mainly due to the lack of show from their overseas players. David Miller and Glen Maxwell have been out of form and they need to step up now. Maxwell had to sit the last match out due to an injury, but he should replace Farhaan Behardien in this game. On the other hand, Hashim Amla joined the squad a week ago and played the last two games. However, he has not been able to live up to his standard yet.

In the bowling department, Sandeep Sharma and Mohit Sharma looked good at occasions, but the side lack someone looking like a threat to the opponent top order. The spinning options, in the form of Akshar Patel and KC Cariappa, also looked ordinary. In a nutshell, the bowling lineup may find it challenging to stop the destructive batting of the Mumbai Indians. The away side, consequently, will rely largely on their batting options, especially the new skipper Murali Vijay who has been the only consistent performer for his team so far!

Pitch and toss:

Visakhapatnam, new home ground for Mumbai Indians, has played host to two matches so far. And the bowlers were the stars on both occasions. In the first one, Mumbai were bundled out for a paltry 92 by the pack of seamers of Sunrisers Hyderabad. And in the last game played here, Adam Zampa took 6 wickets for 19 to help Pune restrict Sunrisers to a small total. This time also, the bowlers should get some assistance and it might be a good idea to bat first, for a change!

The greatest pay-per-view : Alvarez vs Khan Live is all set to go

The biggest fight of the year is this weekend, and it should be a good one. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is arguably the biggest name in boxing and he’s taking on Amir Khan, a 29-year-old British boxer who will be fighting as a middleweight for the first time in his career.

There’s so many things to love about this fight. We’re probably going to see a knockout and if we don’t, we’re going to see a historic upset. We’re also going to see underdog Khan make a bold — some say reckless — jump up two weight divisions to fight Canelo. To make matters even better: Both men need to win, and the outcome of the will have major ramification for both.

“Khan’s already planning his victory party,” Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez’s agent, told For The Win. “He’s that confident that’s he’s going to knockout Canelo.”

Canelo will come into the ringer bigger, stronger, and more experienced than Khan. He can swallow a punch, too, so even though Khan will have bulked-up to fight Canelo at 155 pounds (he’s never fought at more than 147), he’ll have to be really complacent in order for Khan to inflict much serious damage. Khan will try to dance around him, but if Canelo can keep the pressure up and hit him with a few big punches, he should claim a knockout win.

Canelo’s upper body movement has improved in his last few fights, as you can see in the clip above, but there are times when Canelo looks a little heavy on his feet. He likes to square up to his opponents and throw big punches, which can leave him looking stationary against quick counter-punchers — it’s no wonder that the only loss of his career came against Floyd Mayweather in a unanimous decision.

Beating Khan would secure Canelo as the most recognizable fighter in the post-Mayweather/Pacquiao Era of boxing. It would also set up two more potential superfights: a much-talked about bout with mandatory challenger Gennady Golovkin, who moved to 35-0 (32 KOs) after beating Dominic Wade on April 23rd, or a big money rematch with Mayweather, who could be drawn back out of retirement.

“What beats Canelo, in my eyes, is speed,” Khan said on Tuesday, and he’s right. Big guys like Canelo struggle against speedsters, and there’s no denying that Khan is a smarter fighter now than he was a few years ago. If Khan can keep his distance from Canelo’s bigger punches and capitalize with some of his signature quick combinations, he’ll be primed to win a decision.

Khan has talked a lot about how his speed will win him the fight, but his is a different kind of speed. He’s not a quick, outside-jabber or a counter-puncher. Khan likes to bounce around, throw quick flurries of punches and then cycle away. The problem is that doing that requires Khan temporarily stand relatively still, which opens him up to a big punch from Canelo. Khan doesn’t have the strongest chin in the world, either, and he won’t be used to taking a punch from someone like as strong as Canelo. He’s been knocked out brutally twice in the past, and it could only take one big punch for this to be game over.

A Khan victory would completely upend the boxing order. Canelo has a rematch clause in his contract so that would be next on the agenda, but should he prevail once again, there’s a host of possibilities that would’ve opened up. He’s long been angling for a showdown with Mayweather, so he may land that fight after all. A loss would likely return him to the pantheon of where he was before: A good, but not great, boxer.

Verdict:

Canelo wins this one in a knockout, probably in the third or fourth round. He’ll try to do the right stuff, but Canelo only needs to land one big punch for him to win this thing. The margin of error is just too thin, though expect fireworks in the process.
Odds

Odds on more props will open up after the weigh-in, but right now, Bovada has Canelo the favorite at -550, with Khan at +375.
